meets Writer!

An
enthusiastic group of aspiring writers and artists from
Charmouth Primary School paid a visit to Chimp and Zee in
Lyme Regis recently, to meet writer/illustrator Laurence
Anholt and hear about his life and work.
It was a special Christmas outing for the Storyclub, which
has been meeting weekly to have fun with creative writing,
drawing and other arts-based activities. Meeting Laurence
was a fascinating experience for the sixteen children, who
really appreciated the opportunity to ask questions and
receive advice about their own storymaking.
Laurence was asked “Have you ever felt like giving
up?” (No!) and “Did you like writing as a child?”
(He did). A book is a door, he told the children: you can
escape inside a book to another world. And, in Chimp and
Zee, one exciting December afternoon, that’s just
what Charmouth Storyclub did!
